Exploration well, Raoq-1 was spudded on 1st October, 2008. The target was the fractured basement along the Raoq Ridge. This was a previously undrilled structure in Block 53 and mapped using the recently acquired 3D seismic data.

The well was drilled to a Total Depth (TD) of 4648m into the fractured basement. The well was tested in January 2009 and produced at unstable rates of 700 bopd during clean up. The rig has now been released and Dove and their partners are completing technical studies and considering options for the use of the well. Completion or side-tracking are the most likely actions.
