Bayoot Field workover programme commenced with BS-1 producer.
Commencing 23rd May, 2009, ZPEB Rig 900 was mobilised to the Bayoot Field to begin a series of well interventions. This work was engineered to enhance the production from the field by installing optimum tubing sizes and replacing down-hole Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESPs). The original tubing required replacement as many of the completions were designed simply to test the wells and were not ideally suited to long term production.
Wells BW-1, BSW-2, BSW-3, BSW-4 and Bayoot-6 have now been worked over. Several wells are still cleaning up post the well work but field rates from Bayoot are in excess of 4,100 bopd. This represents an overall increase in production of more than 1,500 barrels per day. The well intervention campaign was completed on 23rd July, 2009. The rig was then mobilised to the Sharyoof Field to begin further workovers.
The timing of operations was also planned to coincide with the completion of the topsides project on Bayoot. This project was required to replace the temporary surface facilities which provided a means of extended well testing (EWT) and early production. These facilities were not designed to handle the higher gas rates produced by the Bayoot reservoir. Dedicated surface facilities are now installed to allow the wells to deliver oil unconstrained by the facilities and the gas can now be used as fuel for plant power generation. The use of gas for fuel means that less crude is now required to make diesel on site at the Crude Topping Unit (CTU) and more oil can be exported for sales.
