Dove expanded in 2004/5 with the award of a Production Sharing Contract with DNO ASA for Block VI in the north west of Syria adjacent to the Turkish border.
Dove are initially concentrating on the Ifreen Depression in the north west sector on which the Balflioun and Ashkani structures have been identified. Reservoir targets include the Upper Cretaceous limestones, the Kurachina dolomites and deeper Ordovician/Palaeozoic sediments.
The company acquired a 270km dynamite seismic survey in 2006. This survey was interpreted, along with the existing legacy seismic data (amounting to 1613km) which Dove reprocessed at the same time, leading to the drilling of a well, Maree-1, in 2006. This well was suspended with interpreted hydrocarbon saturations in the Cretaceous Judea Formation.
Dove is presently acquiring an additional 230km of vibroseis seismic data (to fulfil the work commitment for the Initial Exploration Period of three years) and is planning a second well during 2008/9 in the Ashkani/Baflioun area on one of the prospects that were defined after interpretation of the 2006 seismic survey.
